Department of Mathematics

Department of MATHEMATICS

The Department of Mathematics is one of the larger and longer established department in the Faculty of Science in 1955 and untill recently existed as two separate departments. We offer B.Sc. and M.Sc. in both Mathematics and Statistics and also Ph.D. in Mathematics degrees. Since Mathematics is pure and Statistics is applied sciencs, students will be learned about logic thinking because of the nature of subjects. They, therefore, can work in many careers. The main careers of Mathematics major are teacher and Statistics major are statistician, researcher or teacher also. However, the other professions that they could work are system planner, production planner, production controller etc. For students who would like to study in a higher degree, Mathematics and Statistics are very good fundamental knowledge of other subjects for further study, such as, Insurance, Information Technology in Business, Business Software Development, Decision Technology and Management, Biostatistics and etc.
